When I first joined the Group in 1995, I knew nothing about
Family History Research. Within a few
years, I became Treasurer and one of the volunteers. I spent my voluntary time reading books,
looking at microfiche and CDs. I knew
nothing about Australian research, all of my forebears having come from the
I was elected President in 2003 and 2004. That was a great learning experience. For a lot of this time, I was coming in as a volunteer, once or twice a week. I even tried opening at night for a few months, but that was a bit scary!!
I recently became a member of Management of History
This is not the path for everyone but shows that you can become involved and you never know where that can lead.
