PRESIDENT’S REPORT
When
next you visit your clubrooms you will notice quite a difference. The vintage
carpet has been removed from the Library room, Fiche room and hallway and
replaced with vinyl. These areas and the toilet have also been given a fresh
coat of paint to brighten them up.
I
am sure that you will all join me in extending thanks to Phil and Helen, Elaine
and Jeff, Jane and Danny, Joanne and Chris and their son Luke, Natalie, Glenys,
Janet, Gary and those who volunteered their labour for this project. The
project was quite a big job and took almost four days of their time to
complete. Well done!!!
That
time of the year is fast approaching when you have to decide if you wish to
take an active part in the running of your club. You can do this by nominating
for any position that takes your fancy. The nomination forms have been emailed
out to all members. Those who wish to pick up one at the office may do so.
We
have a lovely pottery filtered water urn and stand that have been donated by
Danny O’Brien as the major raffle. I would like to thank Danny for this
donation on behalf of all the members. Tickets are on sale now and the
draw will be at the AGM in June.
If
anyone has some time to spare, please consider being a volunteer in the office.
If you wish to do so, please see any of the duty persons or your committee
members.
Happy researching,
David

STORIES WANTED FOR THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE OF OUR CLUB MAGAZINE
If
you have a story to tell about your family history research, or a problem you
can’t solve, write a story, doesn’t have to be a long story, it can consist of
a few lines and a photo, or a lot of lines and no photo, whatever you want,
because you just don’t know who has the missing piece of information that you
are looking for. Stories for the September issue need to be submitted by
beginning of August.
COMMITTEES
Oh, give me your pity; I’m on a
committee,
Which means that from morning to
night
We attend, and amend, and contend,
and defend
Without a conclusion in sight.
We confer and concur, we defer and
demur
And re-iterate all of our thoughts,
We review the agenda with frequent
addenda,
And consider a load of reports.
We compose and propose, we suppose
and oppose,
And the points of procedure are fun!
But though various notions are
brought up as motions,
There’s really ****-all that gets
done.
We resolve and absolve, but we never
dissolve,
Since it’s out of the question for
us,
What a shattering pity to end our
committee,
Where else could we make such a
fuss?
