Don’t forget our monthly
meeting is at 1pm on Saturday 13th February.....all welcome.
By now you should have
received your Fundraising info for the next months. Thank you in
anticipation of your support in this important endeavour.
Also we are currently
running a raffle with a year's membership of CFHRG as the 1st prize. 2nd
prize is a beautiful set of 2 coffee mugs. Tickets are $1 each and are
available from the office - to be drawn at the monthly meeting on 13th March
2010.
Donations of items suitable
for the Easter Raffle would be appreciated.
Progress is slowly being
made on new premises for the Club, but as it stands at the moment, we will be
here in the Old Fire Station for at least another 5-6 months.
Guest speaker - 1pm on Saturday 27th
February 2010 - Dr. Jennifer
Harrison, Historian (the Queensland researcher for the Australian
Dictionary of Biography for 22 years; research adviser with the School of
History, Philosophy, Religion & Classics at the Univ. of Qld), will be our
guest speaker...all welcome.....if you don’t usually attend any of the guest
speaker afternoons during the year, you really should make sure you come to
this one, as it will be a very informative afternoon...she comes very highly
recommended.
Shake Your Family Tree
Day - 23rd February 2010 - 9.30am - 4.00pm.

Hill Qld. (07) 3249 4226. To encourage more Australians to unearth
personal treasures, the National Archives is hosting a Shake your family tree
day in each of their capital city offices.
Each Archives will offer a
range of activities including talks, preservation workshops, demonstrations and
introductory research training. With expert family historians on hand,
visitors will learn how to locate treasures such as letters, photographs,
service records, immigration and citizenship applications, employment records,
copyright registrations and other government records.
